To study the evolution under non-abelian gauge fields, we detail the cooling mechanism of the fermion strontium-87 gas. In contrast to previous studies reported in ref. [1], where we emphasize the finite temperature effect of the gas. In addition, we provide detailed characterizations of the efficiency of atomic loading into cross-dipole traps, the quantitative performance of evaporative cooling, and the characterization of degenerate Fermi gases using the Thomas Fermi distribution.
